After emerging from the womb a month early, I felt I had nothing more to prove to anyone and quickly established a strict regimen of under-promising and over-delivering. My childhood was idyllic but for the frequent blizzards, tornados, floods, draughts, fires, Lyme disease scares and social upheavals that graced my once-affluent-but-now-tatty suburb just outside of Lake Wobegon, Minnesota. Managing somehow to find someone masochistic enough to suffer my debilitating narcissism, we relocated to the Bay Area (R) but were called home by an ancient prairie Pon Far. Flung back out of Eden (Prairie) by the vagaries of billionaire aerodynamics, I now find myself along with those I care most about clinging to the flotsam of civilization on the shores of the Seattle area, pressed up against the ramparts of the mountains so breathtakingly unfamiliar to the above-average midwesterner.
